Float Your Boat has long been one of the White Isle’s most successful boat parties and the official sea faring adventure for some of the island’s most famous parties, including Coxy’s legendary night at Space, I decided to climb aboard for my inaugural voyage at this week’s Cream pre-party to see what all the fuss was about. As I made my way towards the impressive Captain Nemo catamaran, with my fellow trance heads I’d met earlier at Ibiza Rocks Bar, we all begged for the sun, which had been hiding all day, to break free and bathe us in some much needed rays ahead of our maritime quest.
We powered out into the bay just after 6pm and a nice cool breeze caressed my face as Joshua began his set, from the very beginning it was full of floor filling classics, perfect for getting people in the mood for Cream at Amnesia later that night. Just as Joshua played ‘I See You Baby’ by Groove Armada, the clubbers on the boat started shaking that ass – as the song commands. San An was long in the distance and it was hard to dance amidst the chopping waves but that didn’t stop anyone and the entire boat was rocking. In the bar area I found people sitting around drinking and chatting as the steady din of the tunes emanated from the upper deck.
There was a great buzz on the boat as we veered close to Es Vedra, Joshua continued with his floor filling classics, playing ‘Show Me Love’, ‘Put Your Hand’s Up For Detroit’ and Mylo’s ‘Drop The Pressure’. By twenty to nine, nightfall was fast closing in, leading into the moment we had all been waiting for, the infamous sunset. The sun eventually gave way to it’s heavenly sister the moon on what was an amazing experience full of great tunes, fun people and excellent staff, I look forward to setting sail again in the future.
