There’s something special about real industrial venues. Abandoned warehouse and disused factories have become synonymous with rave culture and more importantly techno. When you think of industrial techno raves many people think Germany. Berghain, Tresor and so many more clubs that have built a strong reputation for being some of the best venues on earth. Funkhaus, an old East German radio station will play host to an incredible rave on New Year’s Eve with Ibiza big boys HYTE. Names like Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Loco Dice, Nina Kraviz, Pan-Pot, Ricardo Villalobos, Tale Of Us and so much more dominate this techno forward lineup. This event will not be for the feint of heart. A full 24-hour lineup will mean you will need buckets of energy and enthusiasm to make it through the full 24 hours.
Funkhaus itself opened in 1956 and is located in the factory district of the old East Berlin. It used to be a stunning broadcasting campus and boasts the record for the largest purpose-built recording studio in the world. After the falling of the Berlin wall, the building was left derelict. After the derelict period, it became the epicentre for the creatives of Berlin.
A maze of hallways that lead to old recording studios, wide open industrial style spaces, expansive concert halls and so much more make up the insides of this mammoth-like venue. The Shedhalle which was once covered in a veil of mystery will be opened to the public for the very first time on New Year’s Eve. Capable of holding 10,000 people, The Shedhalle will no doubt captivate the audience create a vibe that no other club or venue in the world could emulate.
