A few weeks ago we brought you news of the new restrictions being placed on venues in the West End in San Antonio regarding their noise. Local residents and politicians had finally become tired of the late nights and enforced measures on the party hotspot which would see it close much earlier.
Venues were forced to close at 3 AM and forced to close their outdoor terraces at 11 PM. Locals welcomed the measures but were widely criticised by bar owners and local businesses. The council voted and the measures are due to come into place next month.
Since then a total of 9 unnamed venues have been issued with closure orders of between 1 and 14 days. It was also revealed by Diario de Ibiza that the venues received fines for “acoustic contamination” totalling £8,036.
6 of the 9 venues have to close for a day another for two days, another for 13 days and the final venue closing for a full two weeks. The venues are forced to close from June 1st onwards which is one of the busiest times of the year in the West End.
Venues in the area will also be forced to be soundproofed and install noise limiters.
Surely this will turn tourists away from the West End? Let us know what you think in the comments!
