Looking back over the decade in San Antonio, things have not been going so smooth. The West End was having more and more restrictions put on them by the local governments and clubbing in San An was left in a type of purgatory with nothing to shout about and it seemed like it was a town in serious decline. Then 2017 came along and with that came the rebirth of San Antonio. With Ibiza Rocks having a huge year and Eden blowing expectations out of the water, momentum is certainly on San An’s side, so we decided to take a look at what is to come for San Antonio with an exciting 2018 lying ahead.
Eden was certainly at the epicentre of the renaissance of San Antonio in 2017, without a doubt, but can they keep the momentum going? After Defected announced their return to Ibiza and they set up shop in Eden for the Summer, many were sceptical. Defected proved their doubters very wrong indeed having a blowout season packing out the club every Sunday with solid lineups and a vibe that was difficult to match in any club around the island.
We were there for one of their biggest nights of the season as MK showed up as a special guest alongside Jacky B2B Alexis Raphael, Claptone and Sonny Fodera playing B2B with Franky Rizardo to close out the night. You needed to see the queues to believe them! Luckily, Defected head honcho Simon Dunmore jumped out onto the street to get a video of the huge crowds waiting to party with the Defected crew.
This season is looking like much the same. We’ve been chatting to our unnamed promoters close to the venue and they have revealed that Eden has some incredible nights in the pipeline for 2018! Last year, Defected was really the only night they had filling the venue each week, aside from Pukka Up which always did very strong numbers, but this year people will be flocking to Eden on a nightly basis. Mark our words, Eden will be in the eye of the clubbing storm that will hit San Antonio once again in 2018.
In stark contrast to the year Eden had, Es Paradis had one of the quietest seasons on record. They had very little to shout about in 2017 apart from the fact that they share the same street as Eden. It must have been very difficult for Es Paradis to sit and watch as Eden packed people into the club night after night as Es Paradis struggled to pull any kind of crowd.
Surely this season the venue will become hugely frustrated at their lack of competition to Eden, but will this force them to start working on a lineup to compete once again with its more successful neighbours. What exactly that may consist of, we don’t know, but one thing’s for sure is that it needs to be incredibly strong to challenge with Eden in 2018.
What a year Ibiza Rocks had in 2017. #MERKY Festival with Stormzy was a massive hit, Craig David hosted several sold-out dates and elrow fever hit San Antonio with their chaotic pool parties! 2017 was huge but can they top it as we look forward to 2018?
Our insiders say they can and absolutely will!
Ibiza Rocks have revealed their Craig David parties have been confirmed for Tuesdays come 2018 which almost guarantees Ibiza Rocks will be the go-to venue on Tuesdays. Craig David had a huge year with a 10-week sold out residency in San Antonio last year so we’re expecting more of the same for his larger 12-week residency next year. The interesting thing to note is that the TS5 parties have been moved from Thursdays to Tuesdays and if we are to trust the whispers we’re hearing from inside Ibiza Rocks, there is going to be a massive pool party residency for Thursdays.
We had a small brainstorm here in the office and we thought the only logical resident was elrow. However, having spoken to our Ibiza Rocks insiders, they have confirmed that elrow won’t be taking over the Thursday residency but it will be a huge UK artist!
Something else to note is that they have not ruled out elrow returning to Ibiza Rocks! How many dates they may or may not be doing, we still don’t know but one thing we know for sure is interesting things are about to happen inside Ibiza Rocks!
Grime has enjoyed an incredible resurgence over the last few years and 2017 has been the best of the bunch. Running off the back of the success of Stormzy’s number one debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer, Stormzy and Ibiza Rocks collaborated for one of the hottest events of the season with #MERKY Festival which was another sold-out event. There has been no confirmation of a second #MERKY festival from Ibiza Rocks as of yet but Stormzy seemed very excited about a potential 2018 edition of the festival on Twitter recently!

Prepare for Ibiza Rocks to dominate once again in 2018.
Another member of the daytime venue royalty, Ocean Beach enjoyed a very successful 2017. The venue seemed to be the club of choice for several big-name celebrities across the season with several footballers, models and even “The Notorious” Conor McGregor making a visit Ocean beach in 2017.
Catering for a different side of Ibiza with more RnB and Garage on the bill than the other venues on the island, Ocean Beach has enjoyed a wealth of success and are gearing up for an even more successful 2018 season. They are widely regarded as one of the most popular spots on the island and a must-see for Ibiza virgins. As day turns to night and the party keeps going, you can be guaranteed that it will be a day well spent at the San Antonio hotspot. Who knows who you might rub shoulders with at Ocean Beach Ibiza come next year?
Pikes is one of the last remaining venues on the island which is shrouded in a veil of mystery. Unlike most events on the island, you can’t buy tickets to Pikes. It’s all about knowing someone on the inside and being on that all-important list. The Pikes parties are some of the last parties on the island which truly capture the bohemian spirit of Ibiza. The parties are unlike any other in terms of music selection and that all comes down to two things. The insanely historic venue and the legendary DJs who grace the booth inside the old Spanish finca on a daily basis.
DJ Harvey’s Mercury Rising party and Paul Oakenfold’s Generations parties which celebrated the 30 year anniversary of the Summer that shaped modern-day clubbing culture as we know it. Not only does Pikes lay claim to those legends but they can also boast heavyweights Doorly, Artwork and Melon Bomb for their fiestas as well.
If the walls inside Pikes could speak they would tell unforgettable stories. Make Pikes number one on your Ibiza hit-list for 2018 and immerse yourself in a hedonistic Ibiza experience like no other.
Of all things that cannot be replicated anywhere on the island, the sunset in San Antonio is the one that places like Playa d’en Bossa will never have. A natural phenomenon that is one of the single most beautiful sights you will come across not just on the island but anywhere on earth.
Thousands upon thousands of people flock to the bars and restaurants along the sunset strip to catch their own piece of Ibiza’s magic. Countless Instagram posts, endless marriage proposals and an infinite number of people have been left breathless by the stunning backdrop to an incredible Ibiza experience.
A truly priceless sight that will capture the heart of millions of people from now until the end of time.
