Can we all agree that Stormzy is in line for the throne of the grime kingdom? After a massive year in 2016, 2017 has been even bigger for the Londoner with the massive success of his tour and his debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer.
We brought you news a few weeks ago of #MERKY Festival at Ibiza Rocks Hotel, the island’s first grime festival which has been curated by Big Mike himself.
The one-day multi-stage festival which takes place on the 11th of July will be hosted by the first lady of grime’s most influential family, DJ Julie Adenuga. 10 hours of Daytime sets poolside at Ibiza Rocks with main stage performances and indoor hangouts by a range of artists! Grime heaven!
Joining Stormzy at #MERKY Festival is J Hus after being featured on his album with the huge track “Bad Boys” with Ghetts. South London rapper Dave will also be on stage on July 11th who is one of the most promising rappers coming out of the UK at the moment especially after a hot collaboration with Drake in 2016.
#MERKY Festival will also be welcoming the winner of BBC Sound of 2017 Ray BLK after her collab with the main man last year. Venturing outside of London for the next act you can catch Birmingham’s own Jaykae bringing the fire from the booth to the stage in San Antonio.
Finishing off the lineup is North London’s MoStack and up and coming DJ, producer and radio presenter Kenny AllStar.
Stormzy’s first gig on the island came all the way back in 2015 at Ibiza Rocks, then he held down the first grime residency there last year and now he is taking over his own festival at the venue. This has been a massive year for Stormzy and it’s only getting bigger!
